Can I Combine Protocols?

Can I run Hyperpigmentation Rx and Anti-Aging System at the same time?

Yes — these two protocols are highly compatible. The Ultra AA Serum in Hyperpigmentation Rx already provides antioxidant benefits aligned with Anti-Aging. In practice, you would run the full AM Protocol from Anti-Aging, add SPF, and run the PM exfoliation/retinol rotation from Anti-Aging on a schedule that keeps brightening actives and retinol on separate nights (never together).

What do I do if the Acne Clarifying Series causes dryness or irritation?

Pause the Acne Series and immediately switch to the Barrier Repair Protocol for 2–4 weeks. Use only the Restore System (steps 1, 2, 3) until skin has fully recovered. Then reintroduce the Acne Series at reduced frequency — start with BHA toner only (no exfoliant) and add one product every 5–7 days.

I have both sensitive skin and hyperpigmentation — which protocol do I choose?

Start with the Sensitive Skin Shield for 4–6 weeks to establish a stable barrier and baseline tolerance. Once your skin is comfortable and resilient, you can selectively introduce brightening actives from Hyperpigmentation Rx — beginning with MAP Vitamin C (which is gentle enough for sensitive skin) and Niacinamide. Add AHA exfoliation last, and only if skin tolerates MAP Vitamin C well.

Do I need to follow a full protocol, or can I use individual products?

You can absolutely use Bee Naturals products individually — but protocols are designed so each step amplifies the others. The Barrier Repair Protocol, for example, works because Restore I prepares skin for Restore II's ceramide delivery, which is then sealed by Restore III. Running only one step delivers partial results. For best outcomes, follow the full protocol for at least 4 weeks.

Should I start with the Barrier Repair Protocol before any other protocol?

Barbara Chappuis recommends the Barrier Repair Protocol as the starting point for anyone who has been over-exfoliating, using many active products at once, or experiencing reactive skin. A healthy barrier is prerequisite to getting results from any other active-focused protocol. When in doubt, start with Restore.
