How Skin Ages

Skin aging is driven by two parallel forces: intrinsic aging (genetic, inevitable — collagen production slows ~1% per year after 25, elastin degrades, skin thins) and extrinsic aging (UV damage, pollution, oxidative stress — entirely modifiable with the right approach).

The visible signs — fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, uneven texture — are the downstream result of collagen and elastin degradation, reduced cellular turnover, and cumulative free radical damage.
