Tamanu Oil
Also known as: Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil
Derived from the seeds of the tamanu nut tree, a tropical evergreen native to Southeast Asia. Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits. There is no conclusive scientific research backing the miraculous healing benefits of this oil but it does contain the molecule calophyllolide which has anti-inflammatory effects similar to that of hydrocortisone. Tamanu, like most oils, is composed of glycolipids and phospholipids which make them very good at hydrating. Unlike other oils, however, Tamanu has a higher fatty acid content and contains both oleic and linoleic fatty acids, which gives it a boost with its’ moisturizing abilities.
