Caprylyl Glycol

An alcohol derived from caprylic acid, a fatty acid found in palm and coconut oils as well as some animal milks. Although it is an alcohol, caprylyl glycol is hydrating and works as a humectant to bind moisture to the skin in lip balms, serums, lotions, and moisturizers. It also works as a preservative to inhibit the growth of bacteria in products.
