Calcium Hydroxide

Also known as: Slaked Lime and Ca(OH)2

An inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2. It is a colorless crystal or white powder and is produced when calcium oxide is mixed with water. Calcium hydroxide in used in hair straightening products for its ability to change the structure of the hair by destroying the sulfide bonds that link the amino acids making up the hair’s physical structure. It is also used in skin care products as a PH stabilizer as it is alkaline.
